Tony Cirigliano Ministries September 2006 Newsletter Issue #15
Greetings in the Savior! Hope this newsletter finds you doing well and rejoicing in the great salvation we share in Him! We have been experimenting with a new type of evangelism that can be done easily, and one that the older members can do. The idea is to place a table with some cold drinks or fruit in a church parking lot or other location with a lot of traffic and have the following banner pictured above that says, “Need prayer? Need Answers? STOP HERE” easily visible to traffic. We are experimenting with this now at the Banner Elk SDA Church in Banner Elk, North Carolina. Other signs can be put up like “Free Watermelon” or “Free Lemonade” and then offer those who stop a book, or Bible study guides, or prayer, etc. The Holy Spirit leads those who see the sign to stop! This parking lot ministry is great for a Community Service project, or for Pathfinders, seniors, etc. It is low cost and it can be done anywhere there is good drive-by or walk by traffic. The banner can be purchased from TCM for $125.00. If you are interested in this call 877-828-7432.
Mountain City Soul Winning Seminar On Sabbath, August 19th, we were blessed to share a soul winning Sabbath at the Mountain City SDA Church in the Georgia-Cumberland Conference. This was the first time we did the seminar all in one day. Nevertheless, even with such a short time to get Bible studies (between sessions!) those that attended got five new Bible studies! The next day another member who attended called and said that he got gotten two new Bible studies started Pastor Harley was not able to be at the meeting as he is conducting meetings elsewhere. We pray that the seminar has helped the upcoming meetings to be held by Evangelist Norwood. It is amazing how the Lord works and new Bible studies are gotten when minds determine to work for souls!

By Pastor Tony Cirigliano There is a great blessing in giving to Yahweh’s cause. Each month we at TCM give our offerings to several different ministries and charities. Looking at last month’s offerings in our check book we gave to Amazing Facts, Adventist World Radio, The Smile Station (they do surgery for children who were born disfigured), ADRA, the St. Labre Indian School, Pacific Garden Mission, Right to Life, St. Joseph’s Indian School, and Shreiner’s Hospital. Other months we give to those and other worthy ministries and charities, and we give it in the Savior’s name. I tell you this not to boast of my puny philanthropy, but to let you know that we definitely were not the poorer for giving, but the richer for it! In fact, we have come to conclude that we cannot afford not to give . When we give we get back in like measure. Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again. Commenting on this verse, Ellen White wrote, “There are some who are liberal with their gifts, and these gifts call forth the grateful praise of those who through them are given a knowledge of the gospel. The givers become the subject of the prayers of those who receive the benefit of the offerings made.” – Pacific Union Recorder, November 14, 1907 par. 15} “The Spirit of God is grieved when those church-members who have means withhold the offerings that would help the work to be carried forward rapidly and extensively. Will not our church-members become intelligent in regard to the needs of the missionary fields, and respond to the efforts that are being made to secure help for those workers who are laboring in difficult places? Who with Paul will seek to stir up the churches to a spirit of liberality for these needy fields? Not only in the South but in many places the work is hard to carry, and the workers are compelled, as it were, to make brick without straw.” {PUR, November 14, 1907 par. 16} To all our people I bear the message: If we will be sanctified, soul, body, and spirit, to do the will of the Lord, He will walk in our midst as a light from heaven. Let there be a breaking up of every selfish method of labor, and let each help the other, as one great converted brotherhood. – Pacific Union Recorder, November 14th, 1907. The Word of God says as we give, it will be given to us. This not only mean giving to the conference work, as we well should do, but it means any work that involves spreading the gospel or ministering in Christ’s name. This verse was written long before there was a Seventh-day Adventist Church, or a Baptist Church, or a Methodist Church, etc. It is a divine principle of Yahweh’s Word that when we give to His cause and in His name He not only blesses us in return, but He presses down the meal like a cereal box after it is opened, and after pressing it down to make room for more, He then pours it on over-flowing the box! You simply cannot possibly out-give the Lord! The verse also says that “men shall give” to those who give. This means that money and means will be given to the giver. So it is not only to select organizations that men shall give, but Jesus said they would “pour into YOUR bosom” when you give in His name to the work of the gospel. Here is what Jesus said at another time, “And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward.” Matthew 10:42. Here the Savior said even a cup of water given to his servant, not even in His name, but even in the name of one of His disciples will not go unblessed. The giver shall receive a reward! “Give and it shall be given unto you” is a Bible principle. Luke 6:38 tells us that the ruler we use to give to God’s work, will be the ruler Yahweh our heavenly Father uses to measure His blessings to us! In 1 Corinthians 9:14 it is written: “Even so hath the Lord ordained that they which preach the gospel should live of the gospel.” The RSV translates it “those who proclaim the gospel should get their living from the gospel.” Those who preach the true gospel are worthy of support, and those who teach others to do it even more so for the result is not just one preaching the gospel but rather hundreds and thousands who are taught and inspired to do the work. Mary Ann and I have $50 taken out of our account each month to support a missionary family that will be serving overseas with Adventist Frontier Missions (AFM). As we give to this outpost ministry – this supporting ministry of the Adventist Church, the Lord not only blesses what we give, but we know that He blesses us for giving! It gives us joy to know that when this dear family goes to work for Jesus, we too in spirit will be with them in the work! The Lord loves a cheerful giver. Jesus said, “Give to every man that asketh of thee.” – Luke 6:30. “The liberal soul shall be made fat: and he that watereth shall be watered also himself.” – Proverbs 11:25. This is the Old Testament’s rendition of the principle of Luke 6:38, “Give and it shall be given unto you.” I can share with you some wonderful stories of how our heavenly Father has blessed us as we gave, and how He has blessed those who have given to this ministry. It never stops. We CANNOT out-give Yahweh! The work in many conferences is suffering because many members withhold their tithes and offerings. This is a sin and a sad thing. Some say they “cannot afford” to return the Lord’s tithes to Him! How sad and how wrong they are. They cannot afford not to return their tithes and offerings! To do so dare’s Yahweh to curse them. Those who keep His tithe and fail to give offerings for His work are “cursed with a curse.” See Malachi 3. If we really believe the Word, then why not give to the work of the gospel? If we believe what Jesus said, “Give and it shall be given to you”, and that He would give us “good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over,” then why would we not give, or give sparingly? Let me share an experience we recently had. Some dear old friends called us and were in a real bind of a situation. They needed money to pay their rent. It was the 12th of the month and our house mortgage which was due on the first of the month had not yet been paid. We prayed about it and gave from our mortgage money in Yahshua Jesus’ name to help our friends out and trusted the Lord for the money we needed. A few days later, we received a check from the IRS of over $1600 for a tax credit we were entitled to and didn’t know about! As I said, we can never out-give the Lord! When we started this ministry, we got into some straight places, and we were tempted to call asking people for help, but we never did, we just asked our Father in heaven, and He told people to help! I plan on writing a book about Yahweh’s faithfulness called His Eye is On the Sparrow. If you have stories of how the Lord blessed you, please send them in. I’d love to put them in the book! When we budgeted for our first year in this work, we figured that I would earn $14,000 from sales and internet business, and that Mary Ann could work part-time as an RN and earn approx. $25,000. We also figured in a certain amount of promised support, and the rest from the Lord’s hand. Things turned out different than planned. Mary Ann's job was done away with, in fact, the whole psych unit at Canon Memorial Hospital was done away with! She also took a bad fall in the bathroom in October just about the time I got my last paycheck from the conference. So she could not work, and has not worked the entire year due to the fall and her ulcerative colitis. The promised funds never came in as expected, and so we went from an income of $80,000 or so per year to no sure income at all, and we also had to pay back the conference approx. $20,000 we owed from help they gave us to purchase our home four years ago and interest was being added to it daily. But man's extremity is Yahweh's opportunity! We took some money out of our house but that still left us about $50,000 short! And that was not counting what we needed for printing, supplies, computers, etc. But Yahweh was faithful. His hand supplied what we couldn’t possibly do. I can’t tell you how many times I have walked up from my mailbox with tears in my eyes because someone sent a check that was just what we needed at the time, or shed tears when I received e-mail notices that we had money sent to our account because the Lord told someone to help us out and send just what we needed. He has at times sent dear brethren to our house with money that was badly needed. And other than the envelope in this newsletter we never asked anyone for money we only asked Yahweh! He even sent Mary Ann badly needed new snow tires that were put on in our driveway when we were gone! Even while writing this letter a donation for $1000 came in the mail from someone I do not even know! For a third time I say, you can never out-give Yahweh the Lord! One of the hardest things I have had to do was get used to taking money people donated to our ministry. I grew up never asking for anything and always providing for my family. But the Lord helped me to receive with thanksgiving and humility. We don’t deserve anything from the Lord, but He gives us what we need. For those who have been faithful supporters of this ministry, we thank you and ask Yahweh to bless you a hundredfold! Thanks again! Remember, it is impossible to out-give the Lord!
Have you checked out http://cleartruths.com/ReceivedTruth.htm ? Over 300 pastors have received the Doug Batchelor DVD and Pastor Kevin Morgan’s CD. As far as I can gather approximately 36 ministers are doing the studies on-line at http://wbaj.net or have ordered material from Amazing Facts. Pray for this ministry and if you are impressed to do so, have your church send some of these DVDS to ministers in your area. The cost is $10 per pastor or church. Send donations to TCM, 887 Seven Oaks Rd. Boone, NC 28607. We have the list of churches for every city. The truth of God’s Word will never return void!
Want to do something for your church that will help it become stronger in faith, grow in numbers and be drawn closer together? Then ask your church board to consider sponsoring a Soul Winning Made Simple Seminar. At the seminar they will hear many powerful, inspiring and encouraging Bible and Spirit of Prophecy quotes. They will hear powerful conversion stories. They will learn how to get Bible studies; how to lead people to the Savior; how to do friendship evangelism; how to give their testimony in an evangelistic way, how to pray with someone to lead them to Jesus, etc. It will change your churches’ witnessing experience forever! As the young people say, “it’s all good!”
Pastors are often asked the question, “Do you think it is okay for nurses, doctors, and hospital workers work on the Sabbath?” The church has some general guidelines regarding this. These guidelines stress the need for medical emergency work and necessary patient care on the Sabbath. The guidelines are quite broad on the subject, and could be easily misunderstood. It is interesting that Ellen White made only one major written statement regarding this subject. It is found in Testimonies for the Church, Vol. 7, p. 106. Here is the statement: “Often physicians and nurses are called upon during the Sabbath to minister to the sick, and sometimes it is impossible for them to take time for rest and for attending devotional services. The needs of suffering humanity are never to be neglected. The Savior, by His example has shown us that it is right to relieve suffering on the Sabbath. But unnecessary work, such as ordinary treatments and operations that can be postponed should be deferred. Let the patients understand that physicians and helpers should have one day for rest.” Some comments need to be made on this quote. First of all, it was written about medical workers in Seventh-day Adventist institutions. See page 107 of 7T where this statement is found. In such institutions where all keep the Sabbath, some workers will have to do their work on the Sabbath day to care for the sick since all the workers are Sabbath-keepers. Ellen White in this statement refers to when it is “impossible” to rest and attend devotional services. It is important to note that she is not talking about scheduling oneself to work every Sabbath at non-Adventist health institutions. In such settings, there are many non Sabbath keepers who could be scheduled to work on the Sabbath and the Sabbath keepers to work on Sunday or other days. It would not be “impossible” to get the Sabbath off in many non Seventh-day Adventist institutions. There is a great misunderstanding among SDA medical workers regarding Sabbath employment. The nature of their employment lends many to feel justified to work on the Sabbath day without even making an effort to have off on the holy Sabbath day. Many fail to realize that this instruction is also given on page 106 of 7T: “The nature of his (the physician) duties naturally lends him to feel justified in doing on the Sabbath many things that he should refrain from doing. So far as it is possible he should so plan his work that he can lay aside his ordinary duties.” Here Yahweh’s servant is instructing SDA doctors in SDA institutions to plan their schedule so that they need not perform ordinary duties on the Sabbath. This statement does not give license for doctors and nurses to agree to work on the Sabbath just because their non-SDA employers ask them to work on that day. I believe we give in too easily and fail to make efforts to rest on the Sabbath day. Although Jesus did show us that it is right to relieve pain and suffering on the Sabbath, He did not regularly plan to do it on Sabbath. Notice when he did much of His healing. This is found in Luke 4:40. “Now when the sun was setting, all they that had any sick with divers diseases brought them unto Him; and He laid His hand on every one of them, and healed them.” Notice that the people understood that Jesus did His ordinary healing work after sunset or after the Sabbath. In fact, in the SDA Bible Commentary commenting on Mark 1:32 which corresponds in principle to Luke 4:40, this is written: “Mark’s reason for being precise as to the time when the sick of the city were brought to the door of Peter’s house lay probably in the fact that rabbinical law prohibited all but emergency attention to the sick on the Sabbath. Also, acts of healing, except in cases of dire emergency, where life itself was in danger, were considered work, and therefore inappropriate for the Sabbath day.” 5BC, p. 571. Jesus observed this part of the rabbinical law. He could easily have broken it, and indeed did when there was sufficient reason in His sight, but He did not make it His practice to do healing on the Sabbath on a regular basis. The Bible says, “It was His custom to go to the synagogue on the Sabbath day.” Luke 4:16 I don’t believe He would miss the synagogue service where His Father was praised to do healing He could do after the Sabbath. I am afraid that too many in the health field take Sabbath too lightly and choose to work on that holy day with no attempt to even ask for the day off so that they could attend Sabbath services. In many cases I suspect some members believe that if they work for a hospital, or a nursing home, or any medical institution it’s okay to work during the hours of the Sabbath as if a white uniform or scruffs is a uniform which when worn automatically excludes the wearer from the Sabbath law. On the Sabbath in ancient Israel, Yahweh commanded everyone to have a “holy convocation’ on the Sabbath day. That means that all were to publicly meet together for Sabbath worship and service. There is no place in the Bible where He gave any professions or group a right to miss the holy convocation be he a doctor, nurse, or the butcher, the baker or the candlestick maker. Speaking to medical workers, the Lord’s servant Ellen White wrote, “Let our people beware of belittling the importance of the Sabbath in order to link up with unbelievers. Let them beware of departing from the principles of our faith, making it appear that it is not wrong to conform to the world. . .to bind ourselves up by contracts with those not of our faith is not in the order of God.” 7T, pps. 107-108. I suggest you read the entire section. I believe that this means we are not to “bind ourselves up by contracts” with hospitals or institutions stating that we agree to work every Sabbath and make it “appear that it is not wrong to conform to the world” regarding the Sabbath question. The Bible tells us that “faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.” To miss the Sabbath convocation and service is to miss hearing the Word preached and hearing the Word is what builds faith! To miss the Sabbath day blessing on a regular basis would be spiritually disastrous to our spiritual life. As a pastor I have seen whole family’s miss church service when one of the parents has to work on that Sabbath. Personally I believe that every sermon preached has a message for someone who desperately needs to hear it. The devil’s work is to try and make sure the one who needs that truth is missing from church.
If you are a doctor, or a nurse, or a CNA or health worker, and you find yourself in an occasional situation where it is “impossible” for you to cease from work on the Sabbath, or you are called for an emergency situation, let your conscience guide you. But do what you can to arrange your schedule so that you will not miss the Sabbath service on a regular basis. Never should the need for a job or money be the sole basis of your decision to work on the Sabbath day. If that is the issue alone, then those outside the medical field could base working on the Sabbath on monetary issues too. My wife who is an RN has very rarely ever had to work on the Sabbath day and has always been at service with the family on the Sabbath day. I realize that there are different situations and single family homes, etc. But the point of this article is let’s not make it too easy for unbelieving employers in the health field to cause us to miss out on the Sabbath day’s blessings or to “belittle” its importance.
